Best place, in my opinion, is the Grand Sierra Resort (formerly the Reno Hilton). Huge racebook and generous with the comps; got a room comped on Fri and Sat night next weekend.

I stayed at Grand Sierra two weekends ago while I was attending Dave Schwartz' HSH workshop. Grand Sierra is nice enough, but a little distant from the other Reno casinos. Three of us stayed at Grand Sierra and we were too tired in the evening to be active at the race book. It looks like Las Vegas Hilton (good and bad).

Chris,

Racebook nearest the Silver Legacy would be next door at the Eldorado. A bit of a joke, actually.

There are only 4 racebooks worth visiting (that I am aware of) in Reno (where I live).

1. Grand Sierra is the nicest, but have heard they have begun to give people a hard time about computers. (Used to be plugs in the front row that you could use.) TVs at every seat.

2. Harrahs. Nice, but no laptop plugs.

3. Peppermill. Beautiful, with TVs like #1. Best "desks" but I do not think there is power.

4. Ascuaga's Nugget in Sparks. Supposed to be re-done. Have not seen it but used to be very comfortable.

This being Superbowl weekend, it will be very crowded in the casinos.

Regards,
Dave Schwartz

Thank you very much for the info. Spent this weekend in Reno. I will agree that the Eldorado race book is a joke. The Silver Legacy race book was very nice.
There is not many tv's that worked, but all in all, good place. Did not get a chance to go to the Grand Sierra, a friend of mine did, and he said it was
very nice. Thanks again chrisl
