Frank Stronach is ego. He mistakenly interprets this As god GIVING HIM supreme futuristic vision.

It’s hard to do anything but applaud Frank's passionate / financial commitment to all of the following…

Breeding
Racing
Equine retirement funding
Attempt’s at marketing to a younger audience etc…
Where he fails miserably is his perception of the gambler. The “horse wizard” is a perfect example of failed strategy bordering on contempt for the horseplayer.

The equivalent $20 million of “wizard” capital could have been put into any or all of the following and serious players would have issued standing ovations.

State of the art race timing.
Lead the industry in reporting equipment changes, shoes etc.
Weigh the animals as their Id is checked and make it available in real time.
A tarp to cover the grass course for the frequent Florida rains.
Consistent reporting of rail movements on the grass course; especially if in the middle of a pick-4 sequence.
At noon about 18 other things will occur to me, but 2 cups of coffee can only lead to so many words.

The article is written by a Baltimore Sun writer , and picked up by the Florida, sun sentinel. Interesting that the local paper would not write their own article on their hometown track and Stronach. Then again Magna owns the MD. tracks, but Magna has only talked of building in MD if they get slots, so maybe that is their reason for putting up such a column.

I think this is the 3rd or 4th thread on this subject of Frank and his errors. We all know he has made them and now it is time for him to realize that he should rid himself of Gulfstream and let someone come in and take over this ship before it sinks even further! I think that the Brunettis who own Hialeah should buy GP and bring back the luster and charm South Florida racing once enjoyed. "Anybody that was anybody came to Hialeah racetrack"(Bobby Ussery)

Somebody at Sun-Sentinel is probably in trouble for picking up this old story from Baltimore Sun. Most of what Sun-Sentinel does is a Magna suckup so they can get their advertising $$$

Frank needs less energy and more common sense.

"Stronach told Barron's in 2000 that his racing company might one day be a bigger success than his auto parts conglomerate."
The declines in several categories of racing bagan around 1990- # of races, live attendance, starts-per-year per horse; and of course the reason Frank bought so many tracks in 2 years is because peole were SELLING THEM!
The article does not mention that he took $300 million out of racing and put into his auto parts company; now he's pumping money in.
Does Stronach know the horse racing business??
Interesting tidbit that CD Inc is showing profits on most of their tracks.

The latter knows,in general, what it is doing over the former.
