Nice article! I would like to publicly thank Brad Bryant (who is quoted in the article) as he just hosted myself and a couple of buddies from Southern California in the VIP section of the Racebook at Planet Hollywood. The service and hospitality were outstanding!:)

Thanks, Karl. Interesting article. Would have been even better if Eng had compared the comps offered by the competing books. Instead, he just left it at rebates being banned.

"Wynn Las Vegas has taken ''baby steps'' to offer out-of-state horseplayers the ability to set up a Las Vegas-based phone wagering account."

Does anyone know what Wynn is doing?

Interesting, it was because of his self interest that he instigated the rebate ban in Nevada as well as being able to bet horses out of state from there. Now he is welcoming out of state betting in his casino. I wouldn't bet a dime at his place.

Weren't the management of various racetracks the ones who complained loudest about the rebates, which led to the ban?

That was part of it. BUT it sure looked like he was in on it. If i remember correctly he was one of the complainees. The major player in the rebate scene was on property he was looking to get. Coincidence? No rebate and the Boardwalk would be losing a big chunk of its revenue which was keeping it afloat. Maybe just another conspiracy theory.
