I have quite a few horse racing books. I recommend his books over anyone if you are interested in really good information.

I don't know that I would recommend his books to anyone who is not careful to sift through them for gems.
An in depth reading of his books, and in particular his book
Figure Handicapping,
gave me 1 idea that changed my approach to horse racing.

Read deep. The idea is there.

Thank you, Jim Quinn,

Quinn is arguably the most influential author modern horseracing has yet to see,
including Beyer. Quinn took Beyers speed figure work of the 70's and made it
meaningful and useful to me. Figure Handicapping is a foundation work for many
of the computer based handicapping approaches. I credit Quinn with carrying
on William Quirin's research and presenting those conclusions to handicappers
in ways that we could use to make us better players.

Quinn's books and notes, as Greyfox mentioned, still contain basic handicapping
foundation principles and ways to use them as serious tools today. He has influenced my work in this area and I couldn't have come this far without his sage advice.

I learned much of what I now use in my handicapping from his book, Recreational Handicapping.
