Ladies and Gentlemen. In this corner, wearing the brown fleeced jacket with a hood...with over 30 years of harness racing handicapping experience. The Man With A Plan..."Howie The Horse." In the other corner, wearing a sweater and parka with mittens, with 50 years of harness racing experience, the former teacher who wagered on his first harness race in 1958, the man they calll WDL, "The Harnessmaven" Ten rounds of heavyweight harness racing handicapping action.

Ten rounds of harness racing handicapping action, sanctioned by the New Jersey State Racing Commission (at least we believe; they offered no objections).

Yes, folks, they've traded barbs. They've engaged in good-natured kidding.
They even "eye-balled" each other's website when they downloaded their past performances.

But now it's time for action. The selections have been posted: "Howie The Horse" http://www.freeharnesspicks.com and WDL "The HarnessMaven" http://www.harnessmaven.com.

The two harness racing handicapping combatants are ready. They've done their calisthenics (writing down and then typing out their selections); they've followed a strict training regimen (four cups of decaf coffee). But now the time has arrived. The day that harness racing fans from far and wide have waited for.

You've heard of the "The Rumble in the Jungle" and "The Thrilla in Manila". Well, today, at 12:35 the first blows...er...I mean the first-race trotters will go postward. Yes, the day we all have anxiously awaited has arrived: "Goin' For The Gold At Freehold."

For further info on our picks and contest rules. Check out either of our websites. "May The Better Handicapper Win!"

I'd like to congratulate "Howie The Horse" for winning our head-to-head Freehold handicapping contest. Howie hit the last five races; he prevailed: $256 to $154.
