What kind of crazy website is that?

The first commenter asks if Fox News is popular (his gut says "no"), and the second guy wants right wing radio banned.

I don't much agree with the New York Times much but I sure as hell don't want the paper banned. And you have to have the IQ of a Peruvian tree frog to not know Fox is popular. Those guys really need to get out more.

It's funny how all of a sudden everyone is ganging up on Billy boy....it's like they all get their marching orders at one time from Soros, and off they go into the wild blue yonder....

And to think, some of their more recent postings warn against "wild-eyed" hardcore Christian groups.....

As if their own actions and beliefs don't qualify them for similar descriptors.

zilly, instead of depending on your endless supply of leftwing links to keep you informed you should actually watch something. O'Reilly never said there weren't many homeless Vets. He called Edwards stupid or lying about the number of homeless Vets out there being out there because of the economy! O'Reilly said the bulk of homeless Vets, like most homeless people were out there homeless because of mental problems or addiction to drugs or alcohol. People who run veterans facilities agree. So get it right. Edwards blaming the economy, and O'Reilly called him on it. O'Reilly would be delighted to debate Edwards on the subject but guess Soros won't let Edwards do that.

All I can say, is I don't know the exact numbers , I think the 200,000 comes from the VA and possibly something affliated with the DOD.

In any case, if the numbers are close to that , then I don't see why it matters as to the "why" of it?
I guess, it's easier to throw mud back and forth than get out and do something about it at any level?

I think the only reason those numbers exist is that WE don't walk the talk and have not for many years, since at least 'Nam.

Lefty, my friend, I'm not talking about O'Reilly or Edwards now. I'm talking about veterans. In my humble view, there needs to be much better care taken on their behalf. There should be expanded programs to assist those with PSSD and other consequences of service. The fact that there are 195,000+ vets in need of care from the country they bravely served stares in stark contrast to all the spin that either O' Reilly or Edwards generates.

We should do all we can for our vets, but aady at one of the organizations that try to help says if they won't come in(and many won't)they can't help them.
BUT, my friend, this thread was about sillyzilly saying O'Reilly denigrated the vets and disputed the number of them as homeless when he DID NOT. His beef with Edwards was about the causation. Edwards is running around lying and O'Reilly called him on it. THAT'S what this thread is about.

Ok Lefty, let me say we can put our money anywhere, where we choose to put it is a nation's decision. If only we can bypass these electronic voting machines and allow the truth to be calculated we'd find our nation wants better schools, health care, roads, bridges, etc.

Do we really believe we voted for Bush?

Did we ever want to fund war activities?

If the money that is currently being spent on this war in Iraq was instead spent on schools, roads, bridges, alternate energy sources, etc. then the Corporations (owned are heavily invested by the politicans in the white house) benefiting from our hard earned tax dollars wouldn't make money. See what I mean now.
O'Reilly is ignorant and he is paid well be to ignorant. Fox news media is the equilivant of tabloid news.

Edwards on the other hand backs up his statements with facts.

What it boils down to is this...."What is the average IQ of Americans?" You could say the crap that is aired on CBS (CSI for example) is clearly written for a grade 8 intellect.

Are we as smart as we think we are? Not with O'Reilly flapping his mouth selling out for a fat paycheck.

No, JUST like yourself, The Dixie Chicks, Martin Sheen, even old Bill O'Reilly, we all speak our points of view, LIKE 'em on NOT!

I have specifically gone to listen to real nut jobs (George Lincoln Rockwell before the leader of the American Nazi Party was assassinated......"Turn On, Tune in Drop Out" Dr. Timothy Leary, Jerry Rubin after he returned from the Chicago police riots and others) just to see how strangely daft they were and marveled that they spoke their piece freely and without interruption. Without this negative perspective to compare to, one has no balance in their evaluations.

The Students of Democratic Society were the real whack jobs when I was in school advocating the violent overthrow of the government. We would laugh, shake out heads and walk on, JUST THE SAME WAY YOU SHOULD if you find someone's rightful point of view NOT in agreement with yours.

Or as my late father was prone to saying: "Don't like it? Come here and let me punch your TS (tough shit) card!"

American corporations don't stop other countries media from being aired in the U.S. What the hell are you talking about? You can still buy a dish that gets many more sat channels than just what is available on Dish or Direct TV. Get your credit card out and go for it.

I damn sure guarantee you that if Aljazeera could be a profitable channel..........and people were really interested in it...........you would see it on Dishnet and the cable companies............there is no market for it..........end of story.

nope........not in my opine. That ship has sailed. Our actions speak louder than words. They can scream about Iraq etc.......but they all still take our money. In fact I am for stopping all foreign aid for two years. Just stop it all for two years and let them feel it.

I wish everybody felt the way they did after WWII or the Berlin Airlift, but time has erased that stuff from their minds.

Btw, in about another year the Country of Germany is going to feel it anyway. They bad mouthed us for years and Rumsfield and Bush decided to pull most of our Troops out of Germany. There is going to be a serious draw down over the next few years. Their economy is going to feel it. I am all for moving those Troops to the mideast.

Most people get their information from "Main Stream Media" sources. These are controlled by six or eight corporations.
While anyone worth their salt is unwilling to buy, hook line & sinker, stories without checks & balances, the bad news in your quest for "alternative" news is that they're oftentimes confuted with the slightest of ease.

Circa '68, '88, or pick a year, you might be a popular guy on a campus somewhere citing an article or study seen by few that refutes the news of the day and those eager to believe would scamper off and "spread the word".

Darn shame you actually have to footnote your references now as the internet allows us all to read YOUR sources, and more often than not, have a good snicker. You know, like commondreams.org and "get O'Reilly to apologize" movements?

You, and your brethren, are entertaining in your assumption that the populace is under-informed with the general news, while you pursue "the real truth" in stories penned by less than reliable entities; a.k.a. Wackjobs.

The paradox is that you buy what you want.

Do you ever have a day or moment and find yourself pursuing stories/news that fit your liking? I would hope so. Without admitting that, you're being exponentially mendacious.

To be honest, there's no need to search for news or a movement or the gripe/whine. Live your life, stay abreast and don't buy rotten fruit.

In that you are having a problem spelling the word "you", or "accusations", or "are", or "comment", or "intelligently", or "that", or "foreign", I suggest you get help immediately, and perhaps check into a rehab very soon. I only say this because I care, Tommy. Others on this forum have also attempted "intervention" on your behalf. Please get help!

I strongly object to the above post.

There are several types of intelligence.
Spelling ability is not correlated with many of them.
Typo's and spelling errors should not lead anyone to conclude anything about one's intelligence or mental state.

Bon appetit!

If you could read, you would have seen that PA asked what your were smoking in the post right before that. Do you have ADD?

Here's another.

So far, not one you have posted says they get thier news from Fox.
You really do not understand much of what you hear or have read to you, do you?

At least he watches it - you condem it out of ignorance.
Many many many of the broadcast clips are available on line and THAT ridiculous channel is now, sadly, on my list of cable choices.

It is hilarious to watch as they try to call the bilge they regurgitate anything other than what it is: propaganda.

The rest of the world laughs out loud that anyone takes it seriously.

I would suggest that 99.9999% of them do not know we exist here.

Hey, Leave CSI out of this. We ingrates need our reality.

On the "Radio Factor", O'Reilly lied and said he had served in combat with 'his unit', implying military service. Fortunately, a caller exposed the very real fact that O'Reilly never served in the military combat.

PA and Tommy,
Here's another.I guess it was a case of semantics. I interpreted your post to mean they ONLY get their news from Fox....you seem to imply that if you merely WATCH fox news, if only ONCE, you will get on this "list" of yours.

Whatever. Boring.

Question: Who has the highest ratings on cable TV news? Right. I thought so.

So this means, either a) there are a LOT more FOLKS IN THE US with a right-leaning bend then you care to admit, or b) there are a LOT of left-leaning folks watching Fox (like you, most likely).

Now, since it's human nature to watch and read what you AGREE with, I'm guessing a) is correct, and that there are STILL a lot more right-leaning folks in this country than you care to admit to yourself. And this most likely frightens you a tad as we head into November.

Seriously PA, do you really think there are people that are that stupid that they would rely on Fox News as their exclusive source of "news"?
I watch Fox News for entertainment purposes only. It's so funny!
So, if "A" is correct, and 'B" is also correct, then "C" must be correct as well.
At least that's a "logic", though it really might not be so at all.

Not quiet.

It confirms the hypothesis. You assume the hypothesis and the truth are the same thing. That's not necessarily so.

And I would not compare activites surrounding political activities to those in the sciences. Politics is nothing if not purely focusing on human interests while the ultimate goal of science is an understanding of the world around us. There could be a degree of overlap here but they are not entirely the same.

A new study based on a series of seven US polls conducted from January through September of this year reveals that before and after the Iraq war, a majority of Americans have had significant misperceptions and these are highly related to support for the war in Iraq.

The polling, conducted by the Program on International Policy (PIPA) at the University of Maryland and Knowledge Networks, also reveals that the frequency of these misperceptions varies significantly according to individuals’ primary source of news. Those who primarily watch Fox News are significantly more likely to have misperceptions, while those who primarily listen to NPR or watch PBS are significantly less likely.

An in-depth analysis of a series of polls conducted June through September found 48% incorrectly believed that evidence of links between Iraq and al Qaeda have been found, 22% that weapons of mass destruction have been found in Iraq, and 25% that world public opinion favored the US going to war with Iraq. Overall 60% had at least one of these three misperceptions.

Happens as studied. Wave that flag even though it is crap, and the weak minded clones eat it up.

Look at the honest reponse I gave earlier, and the "cute" response to same.

If anything this shows the opposite because

A) There are links to Iraq and Al Qaeda. There was no link between Iraq and 9/11. But Al Qaeda terrorist were in Iraq prior to the invasion. You simply don't want to believe it.

b) They did find wmd's in Iraq and they were used against US troops, that fact is well documented. They just didn't find the warehouses full of WMD's.

Says who? and what connection did that have to crap?

One could go to many cities in the world and find wanted people on the run from the law. By physically being located in a place, it does not hold up that they were there for any specific activity until it is proven.

More retro-engineering to make the war palatable.

I will swap you Wiki links. This guy lived in Iraq for years, in an Apartment owned by the Iraqi Secret Service

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abu_Nidal

from the link above

After Libyan intelligence operatives were indicted with the Pan Am Flight 103 bombing, Gaddafi sought to distance himself from terrorism in an effort to re-establish diplomatic ties with the West. He expelled Abu Nidal, who returned to Iraq, where he had planned his first terrorist attack 26 years earlier. The Iraqi government later said Abu Nidal had entered the country using a fake Yemeni passport and was not there with their knowledge, but by 2001, at the latest, he was living there openly, and in defiance of the Jordanian government, whose state security court had sentenced him to death in absentia in 2001 for his role in the 1994 assassination of a Jordanian diplomat in Beirut.

Jane's suggests that Saddam Hussein ordered Abu Nidal killed in 2002 in case Abu Nidal acted as a mercenary for the U.S. in the event of an invasion. On August 19, 2002, al-Ayyam, the official newspaper of the Palestinian Authority, reported that Abu Nidal had died three days earlier of multiple gunshot wounds in his home in the wealthy al-Masbah neighborhood of al-Jadriyah, Baghdad, where the villa he lived in was owned by the Mukhabarat, or Iraqi secret service.
