I've stumbled on a spot play enhancement which I doubt is original but I'm willing to share it and I'm interested if anyone else has investigated...
I was examining the two race sequence prep pace patterns of entries which BEAT my spot play horses, total races about 600. I noticed that the same patterns kept showing up. What's odd is that these pattern entries don't generally do very well, i.e. not worth a play of their own, but they murder my spots, dropping them from an average of about 3rd down to about 5th. I call them Nemesis Entries.
When I ran a recap of my spot history, this time eliminating races (about 200)with Nemesis Entries it pushes up the win percentage five to seven points without lowering the ROI.
I would expect other "good" two race prep patterns to work over my spots but not "bad" ones. Not that I'm complaining!
The races were all on dirt, fast, and at major tracks June 1 to December 31 of last year.
