At lunch with my lawyer today, I resurrected my favorite trivia question. (There is something special about stumping a lawyer with political trivia.)

I invite you to post yours here as well.

Here is mine:

"Who was president of the United States after Leslie King, Jr.?"

You win the prize. Tell me... did you have to Google it or did you know?

(The prize is twice as big if you really knew.)

Dang Hamlet.
Yeah, that Hamlet turned out to be a Junior.

I felt both glee with 5 of 10 and jipped for mispelling tightrope.

Forgive my unhinged mind but when the question came up:

I vacillated between a "Zilly" & a "Schwartz" and went with the latter with little success. :lol:

Ditto that along with the dog breeding question -- never heard of that before.

Hey Dave. That piece of trivia is not exactly correct and slips toward urban legend. Those (I believe) 7 so call presidents were not presidents of the United States, but rather presidents of the Continental Congress in its various incarnations and basically had no power beyond the standard Roberts Rules type power for meetings. So calling them PoUSs isn't really accurate.

Here is the snopes info

I don't know why you would say that... it was the name he was born with.

I got 7/10 and would have had 8 but I misspelled Japanese. I also didn't know the number of letters in the Greek alphabet and thought the first Bond film was Dr. No. I only knew Lurcher cause I just recently read an article on it.

My favorite trivia question is (and see if you can get this one without googling it) is, what movie did "Unchained Melody" come from?

I was at the 86 Breeder's Cup. It was a bright sunny day full of wonderful horse racing amongst the best horses on the planet. Ford was interviewed by NBC. "President Ford, How do you like all the pomp and pagentry?" FORD: (scowling) "I'd rather be at the Michigan football game." The interviewer did not know where else to go with it so the interview ended.

Sorry Dave, I get it now. Usually that question has to do with the pre George Washington "presidents" and just assumed that was what you were using, though legally Leslie King Jr never was president as he no longer existed, only Mr Ford.

There were quite a few pre-Washington.
* Samuel Huntington (March 1, 1781 – July 9, 1781)
* Thomas McKean (July 10, 1781 – November 4, 1781)
* John Hanson (November 5, 1781 – November 3, 1782)
* Elias Boudinot (November 4, 1782 – November 2, 1783)
* Thomas Mifflin (November 3, 1783 – October 31, 784)
* Richard Henry Lee (November 30, 1784 – November 6, 1785)
* John Hancock (November 23, 1785 – May 29, 1786)
* Nathaniel Gorham (June 6, 1786 – November 5, 1786)
* Arthur St. Clair (February 2, 1787 – November 4, 1787)
* Cyrus Griffin (January 22, 1788 – November 2, 1788)

Al,

Sure, I understand that.

Try this one:

"Name 3 horses that won the Kentucky Derby in the 1970's."

To be really a stickler, HORSES never win that race, as according to the Jockey Club, an unaltered male animal at three is still a colt.

They only become a horse at five.

The good trivia question there would be name the only horse that won what is now a Triple Crown race. If I remember right one year when the Preakness was run in NY it had 3yo and up conditions and was won by a 5yo. Can't find the cite though

For 3 up in 1890 won by Montague (a 5 y/o), over Barrister (another 5 y/o) run at Morris Park NY then at Gravesend from 1894 to 1908.
