I have read a couple of articles in the Racing Form which stated that some sportsbooks in Las Vegas now have lines for horse vs. horse matchups. Other than these few printed words, I haven't read or heard anything else on the issue. I know that a few of you here are from Las Vegas, so I figured I would ask what your opinions and/or experiences have been with these types of wagers. At 1st glance, it would appear to be fairly easy to use knowledge developed over years and years of horseplaying , pick your spots carefully, and pounce when the appropriate situation arose. I realize to make a serious profit will no doubt require substantial wagers, but with the addition of human error (by choosing what the matchups will be), it would seem less of a risk to make single large wagers in specific situatons. What does everybody think about these types of horse wagers and what the pros and cons of betting them would be?

I haven't played as only a few racebooks offer them, but
know THEY select the matchups and you have to choose
a minimum of FOUR. So not as easy as it might sound.

Lefty, what you are speaking of are the parlay cards. From what I understand, some sportsbooks also offer individual matchups with betting lines. For example horse A @ -200 vs. horse B @ +170. These are offered on an individual race basis and are the types of wagers I was interested in, although the parlay cards might offer more value, as picking 4 for 4 pays 8-1. If anybody has any input about these wagers(even if they ARE offered), I would be very interested in discussing them.

Hi, It has been mentioned that some casinos in Las Vegas offer these kind of bets. Do you know where or which ones offer this type of bet? If not, do you know which online sportbooks offer this kind of bet? Thanks for the information.

I competed in one of the NTRA/DRF championships and there was a side contest that required you to pick about 10 of those matchups.
I did quite well but missed the money. They are very interesting.
I think Pinnacle puts them up. If it wasnt that tourney then it was a Coast tourney. I used to bet them at the Mirage in Vegas but that was 10 or so years ago
