Can someone run the numbers to see what Velez's hit rate is when riding the favorite ? It appears that these are the only mounts that he scores with.

Real good John, thanks for asking…
I hope the year will be healthy and profitable for you and yours and you finally get that drum set back out of the basement! :ThmbUp:
Do you want that as a Comprehensive Odds Line or in ‘Bayesian form? :D
Tampa only… (He is riding the hair off those prices…isn’t he!) :rolleyes:

Well look what we have here, if he isn't on one of the top 2 betting choices, he literally goes along for a ride....I had that feeling. Just watch his body language when he rides, its obvious once look for it.
Thank You & good luck with a healthy 2008 as well.
John.

That’s obviously 4 and over grouped in the rankings if anyone was wondering.
Enjoy your weekend.
Hello John:
No matter how you cut it Velez does not show a postitive return when his horses are favorite.

Joe,
I am not looking to bet him only when he is favored, I just think he is mailing it in if he isn't on the THE horse to beat. Imagine what the world would be like if everyone but the very best in whatever discipline had that attitude.....
John

Joe;
Without attempting to speak for John, this brings up an interesting point about statistics.
Just because something rings up at a .07 cent loss on a dollar doesn’t mean it’s without value. The fact that he’s colder than a witch on anything long can be an asset. You may be able to move up a Velez horse as a key in serial bets, or tri keys.
Plenty of racing stats can shade good and bad opinions just enough to put you in the black if interpreted correctly…imho. To be honest…I prefer many positive situations to be below the “magic” $1 ROI. They seem to attract too much attention and regress to the mean faster than political polls. :)
