They have a poll for the greatest TV highlight clips of all time going on now.

Secretariat's 1973 winning Belmont race is listed. :jump:

Why not have a concerted effort by members (and friends) to vote for this clip as your favorite highlight.

Go to ESPN.com upper right hand corner, click on greatest highlights and you can vote for your top 10. If we only vote for Secretariat we will increase his chances of being in the final countdown to the greatest clip ever. I'm assuming we can vote for just one, and not sure how many times we can vote.

The events are listed in chronological order, so just follow the time line down to '73 and it's there

Good idea...I just voted...

Most of the members here are constantly griping about lack of respect for the horse racing business and here we have a chance to vote "en masse' to put Secretariat in the forefront of the American sporting public and a post from this AM requested that you all VOTE for Big Red on a poll which will take about 30 seconds and there have been 2 - g---amn 2 responses. maybe more have voted, who knows, but it appears to be a non-issue.

I just don't get it :eek::confused::bang:

I had some trouble finding the poll, but here is a link:

100 interesting choices for top sports moments/clips to chosed from, and you do get to 10 selections (OK, hopefully Secretariat winning the Belmont, and up to 9 more.)

Voted for Sec ... but very tough to pass on that little girl who landed on only one good leg to win the gymnastics team gold. Greatest effort I've ever seen in any sport.

True, but I didn't. Dad's idea is to bullet-vote Secretariat to enhance TV's respect for the sport, so that's what I did.

Deep down inside, I don't think Big Red needs our help. I think he will make the list, with or without us....he was that big a part of sports history....

I voted 5 times.

Had to throw in a vote for Montana to Clark. I get chills every time I see it.
Also had to throw one down for Kerri Strug. She was amazing.

Boosted Big Red with another 10 votes, too. I still get g oose-bumps when I watch video of 1973 Belmont Stakes. Little did I know as 17 year old, I watched on TV what remains one of the most amazing feats ever.

5 more for the "Tremendous Machine". Chic Anderson's call of that event was a classic.

I had to also vote for Bo Jackson and Boise State. I was surprised there was nothing for Nolan Ryan.

Hehehe. Ventura got boo'ed for the rest of his career.

That one would have been great or when the come backer from Bo Jackson bloodied his nose and he stayed in the game was classic, too. He autographed that bloody jersey and gave it to Jackson. :)

Or any of his over 5,000 strikeouts.

Similar to the pain I suffered as a former Lexington, Kentucky, resident seeing Christian Laettner's shot on the list.

I fully agree with Secretariat's Belmont, or any other similar performance that smashes a record so completely or in such authoritative style. In that regard, I think they should have included Bob Beamon's long jump at Mexico City in 1968 on the list (even though it might have been aided by the altitude), since he broke the existing record by over two feet.

I voted for the Sec.
Unfortunately my hole in one wasn't listed or......it would have been no contest.

Bo Jackson, the greatest two sport athlete I have ever seen (makes Deion Sanders look like A puss) is only mentioned once and that is IMHO a complete joke.

BTW, voted for BIG RED 100x last night; God do I have to get a life:faint:

Big Red got my vote. Anything to bring horseracing to the public eye. BTW...how do we check the poll results? I did not see a place to do that.
