Cop Who Lied About Citizenship Deported

Man Who Took His Cousin's Identity to Become a Cop Is Banned From U.S.

To his colleagues, he is a loyal and upstanding civil servant who helped make his neighborhood a safer place.

To the Immigration Department, he is an illegal immigrant who assumed another citizen's identity a crime that demands deportation from the United States.

Police officer Oscar Ayala-Cornejo was arrested May 31, 2007, on the charge of falsely representing himself as an American citizen. He was deported Sunday morning to Guadalajara, Mexico, and is banned from the U.S. for life.

That's a tough one but what can you do? The United States used to be a country of laws but now-a-days the end justifies the means, so, all law abiding citizens that say "too bad" will be painted as bad guys.

Why is there anything tough about it? If you believe that illegals need to go, then he has to go, if not, then he should be able to stay, just like a day laborer or maid or any other of the low end occupations many illegals end up in. Acting in any other way would be setting a double standard, which to me would be even more wrong than breaking the law. He is by definition a law breaking police officer. Is that ok?

Is that OK? In a word, no.

Would I want to make an exception in this case? Doubly no.
