Do NOT bet this Sunland guy unless he's at a Barrington Harvey-type price.
This guy and his mount, Tietjen, were carrying my hopes for a $174 pick-four (FOUR TIMES !!), and it came down to a stretch battle with Ken Tohill's mount. The thing is, he HAD plenty of horse. He just kinda went all Jean Luc. It was not pretty. Anyway, he lost by a neck with a very willing horse. :(

I was with you . I had him on my pick four ticket too.........
He blew it big time.......his horse was much the best........he waited too long.......... I also had the 3 on my ticket who was storming up mid stretch and got blocked, but ended up 3rd
The day before I lost a 3k pick four by a neck at Portland Meadows...........it was a tough beat..................onward and upward............

Rule of thumb: bad tracks tend to attract bad jockeys.
Take note of it.

"Jockey" Bill Troilo... or should I say pinhead?
Thank you for not riding all the way to the wire once your horse was headed... and getting nipped out of the exacta by the horse inside of you... when all you had to do was try.
I weigh 175 lbs and could have gotten a second place finish out of that horse.
Yes. The "ride" through the final 1/16th was that pathetic.
grrrrrr.

I wonder if anybody connected to the backside at Turfway reads this forum... probably not, but...
It's easy for a guy like me to sit in my living room, play online, occasionally cash, play armchair quarterback, and villify riders when they give a non effort on a mount I've bet... like the one I posted about the other day.
It's only fair that I offer up a high five to a rider who makes an effort and TRIES to win a race. Did anybody else catch the ride by Brian Hernandez Jr on #8 I'm On A Quest in R3 at Turfway Park today? (Sat 12-22-2007)
The official chart says "never far back... looped the field... along in time." That's utter bullshit. The horse was actually left at the gate. Watch the replay. Very seldom do riders try once that happens - even if they regain contact with the field. Brian never stopped riding and actually got the horse up when a lot of riders would have simply "wrapped up."
As a bettor who played the horse you rode I just want to say Thanks Brian for not giving up.

Ah, the difference between Ronald Ardoin and true greatness.
