I made a couple of advanced bets at Mountaineer today. So, so far they are running.

Well, today is only Monday, but as of now they are still running.

FWIW, I haven't seen the track yet today, but I would be surprised if they got the whole card in.

No way they are running tonight. Every year it is the same thing. They cancel 50% of the races between December 15th and February 15th. With slots and poker now, they can cancel and stay open now, so no sense even trying to run.

Hi,

Are you THE Peter Berry, as in the voice of Mountaineer Peter Berry? If so, love your work. You are very underrated. If not, sorry to bother you. But in either case, thanks for the update on Mountaineer.

I totally agree! Mountaineer has the best racing show!

I am glad they are running tonight. Gotta give the jocks a ton of credit for doing it in this weather!

When will the turf course get lighting?

Yep, same bloke. Many thanks.

The weather also looks promising for Tuesday, Friday and Saturday - the last three days of racing before our five-day Christmas break.

Mr. Berry: you're probably the most underrated announcer in North America today. Mountaineer is lucky to have you.

They have lights. I believe Nancy and Mark have stated the reason is because the grass gets wet and slippery at night.

I second that.

What a pleasure to hear accurate and descriptive calls that Mr. Berry offers.
Add in Mark and Nancys handicapping and you have one fine team.

Perhaps Peter can clarify one item. One of the other posters mentioned lights for the turf course. However, I thought Mark Patterson once mentioned its not the lack of lights its that the turf course gets alot of nighttime dew on it and thus makes it slippery to race on. Is that true? Hollywood Park has night turf races on it and never has had that problem.

Cheers
