Hey Sec:
I guess the Bush administration did put political pressure on Saudi Arabia after all.
However the following quote, to al-Jazirah newspaper, Saudi Justice Minister Abdullah bin Muhammed al-Sheik, says volumes about Islamic law:
"that the pardon does not mean the king doubted the country's judges, but instead acted in the "interests of the people."
It seems convicting a woman for being raped is a proper action under Islamic law.
