I am most of all a horseplayer. When betting the horses, I stay within my budget. If I am losing, I don't try to catch up. I am very reponsible at the track. Howewver, it's a different story with the slots, when I am losing I don't know when to quit. I try to make up for losing by playing higher stakes. This ends in disaster, and I am depressed and angry at myself for days. I don't go to casinos for these reasons. I would like to know if anyone else has experienced these problems.

Cosmo: I read a disturbing report not too long ago that of all the addictive forms of gambling, slots was by far the worst. I have actually walked by folks playing the machines that look like they're in some sort of fixated trance. Although I'm not a professional counselor on addictive behavior, I have seen many people experience this (especially in my 15+ years working in racinos), and I think most on here would agree that you are indeed displaying some sort of addictive behavior when it comes to slots (with the inability to quit and the depression and anger afterward), and probably should seek some professional help. It is my sincere hope that you are able to "nip this in the bud" before it gets any worse..........;)

IMO the rapid play is the killer for bettors.
All I can suggest is take breaks, watch other people play, take more time between pulls, etc. I sign up at all the casinos for player cards and wait to be sent the best deals for free rooms, play, etc. I think you have to re-sign once a year or so. enjoy low-cost buffets. I can go to the sports books and just watch tv.
