Firefox viewing problem

In Firefox a good one-quarter of the screen (from the bottom) is blocked by a whitish background below the status bar. There are two red arrows on the left hand side that don't do anything and that's it. Tried resizing it manually but no-go.
I know it's an easy fix, but couldn't find it in any of the toolbar categories.
