A most difficult sequence to solve. Good to see some interest in the Gentilly oval.

While CIELO SONG appears a bit cheap the four year old double C colt is coming off back to back claims. Cut out to be a nice one as mom earned 272K, almost all on the green. The Amoss claim, from yet another client is coming off a VERY sharp move and when Eddie M. asks this one he should run a new top; not unusual for this barn. Others will take money in a rare claiming event where All have stakes experience. How good is good enough?? Single.

SEMINARY RIDGE worked in ten and change at the sale and when the gavel dropped Terry Finley's outfit signed the ticket and took the Dixie Union colt. Turned over to Stewart who put him in the box at keeneland where he drew inside and was plenty short. Last at seven panels was a disaster from the beginning with the bug up out of the eleven hole again finishing well beaten in a VERY good field. Nice half for this last Friday, Lonnie rides well for this barn, the fence and not much to beat, but adding BUDDHAKHAN a pricy weanling who debuted at nine poles and has worked back stoutly for top two year old connections and THE DARP who was caught inside in his debut but rallied nicely at Churchill to just miss. Werner spot on, Robby up, nice local works but a tough post with a quick left turn. Three long.

VOWEL has been a bit of an enigma but she could not be any better bred and may turn things around today. Stumbled and rank in her first two shw ran a decent third sprinting before a blocked favorite over the Keeneland poly. Dynaformer filly broke her maiden in Tampa when the race came off then was shelved before the Keeneland quit. She worked super twice going into that one and after the poor effort she figured headed to the shed but Mott worked her back, then entered her. Alas on the also's so he worked her the next day. Entered again 11/14, and again on the also's so he worked her back the next morning and she bullets under wraps! Given to Stall who has given her a few soft halfs she wins IF she is right. Adding HUNSA as her race two back smokes these. In that Meadowlands effort she was getting to a team TAP filly that broke her maiden running down multiple graded stakes winner A Bit Of Whimsy. Today she gets a professional jockey and works say ready. Although she hasn't lifted a hoove on this oval offspring of her sire (Swain) are hell to get fit off the shelf. A pair here.

Tagged filly staters make this race the days most volatile and we end up with a four pack. ZARBS' gets the fence, Graham and must overcome the long benching but she has done it several times previously. Sider, a dow joneser, but the works look OK and this filly will like getting back to Bayou breds. Also 8forbish, a homer, who has not been in the gate since last year but has a spot of quality and Mouton runs few short, Misty Glow looks for number ten and is running for the same tag as last but dropping precipitously, and Invading Deputy who relished the switch in barns and may have another in here. A four pack in a race that will probably be won by the horse who gets the seat off the speed horse...but which one is it? Call it 7/1,6,9 / 1,8 / 1,3,8,10 Good cappin. BBB

Wasted a nice priced loner who figured big in leg one but stymied by the Rubics cube puzzle in the nightcap.

7) Even with the rail out Chief What It Is did not look likely to wire this field and after a modicum of study trusting the Dutrow runner seemed implausible. Many did not appeal and that left CIELO SONG ($17.80) as a solid choice. Dutrow's 7yo with one race in seven months was bet down to seventy cents on the buck and was never involved. The "Chief", a multiple stakeswinner as per his usual tactics, supplied more than ample pace for the Amoss claim and the 4yo who came in with a string of sharp efforts and the best work of his career ran down the speed then held gamely. Handicapping grass is so much easier when the speed is certain and swift.

8) THE DARP made ($3.60) look like free money with a dominating score. From the first crop of Proud Citizen, whose horses are really running this one brought good coin as a weanling and was bet down to five to one against a nice colt in his debut. Last was a professional second and the works for this ( 5f bullet, 7f bullet* and dead red sitting half in fifty) made this one likely. Robby very solid on the best horse, Werner solid all around but we added two because stretching out from three quarters to a two turn mile not easy for a juvenile. Alive after a pair.

9) Whatever malady VOWEL has (almost certainly a breathing problem) will probably push her into the shed soon. Nothing bothers a trainer more than a horse that runs a half a mile and no more; other than owners who habitually send their checks late.. Apparently, impeccable connections cannot pinpoint her problem but when she opened 25-1... our hopes rested with the Frankel filly HUNSA. Ridden by Robby, launching off the fence and with the rail up Hunsa figured a perfect trip; and got it. Unfortunately she could not even haul in the speed beaten a half, a half and a nostril in a race that featured extraordinary slow late fractions! Princess Marquetry ($9.40) wins it giving Amoss/Martin a double and poking a hole in our quest to string four.

10) Probably spent enough time on this heat to solve Rubics cube and never got any sort of grip. Class, recency, pace and other salient handicapping tools went out the window with every entrant moving up, or down in class. As for recency, only two had raced in the last six weeks and although we knew the pacesetter; we did not know who would get the coveted seat behind that one. LEESTOWN LIGHT ($18.80) gets her picture taken for the fourth time in 22 efforts for the solid combo of Beard and Robideaux and the four comes back some $1700 for a deuce. A brief explanation of the sequence from a good handicapper we spoke to Thursday night sort of sums this one up; " single, single, some of them, all of them"! What an easy game.

* The Darp's work was best of two and the bullet designation is only used if three or more work the distance. Play Sunday. BBB

So, I checked out your Sunday play on the other board, and I gotta say I was thrilled to see you expanding to multiple tickets. Honestly, I was really rooting for you to hit it when I checked the results.

Damn, you had every winner somewhere on your three tickets, but sadly didn't connect. Didn't see the races but I hope the beat in the third leg wasn't too brutal.

Excellent try.
