"According to the Consignors and Commercial Breeders Association, “Recent research studies on the evaluation of yearling throats have shown that more than 98 percent of the yearlings had no throat problems that significantly impacted their racing careers and earning ability at the track.”
I wonder if this statement takes into account that yearlings have not have the stress and demands of racing yet? So was the big improvementin Gill's stock due to myectomies as he claimed, or were they done to give cover to illegal drugs? I do not believe they were caught with many.

The last paragraph was interesting in pointing out the age differences in the trainers and the amount of vet work done for them. The younger generation trainers do seem to rely on the vets too much. It also stated how there is no difference in soundness issues with either side (meaning the vets really don't make a difference, only up the cost).
