I was having a rambling conversation the other day, when watching a football game, and PC talk came up. My question is this:

Is there a cable that makes it possible to see on a TV what you would see on the computer. Say plug this into your modem(or monitor), then to a TV, and bingo! Is there something out there that simple?? A guy at the Pub says there is, but it sounds to simple to me.
Anyone have an idea on this.

If your computer has an S-video port and your TV has multiple inputs (both usually do these days). Then this is all you need.

http://www.svideo.com/svideorca.html

S-video goes into the computer, the audio goes in the headphone and the RCA connection goes into the TV. Usually yellow for video and red and white for sound.

You could also find S-video to component and plug speakers into the PC.

You also need to be running an operating system and video card that handles dual monitors. The set is straight forward and quick (I wont say simple) if you know what you are doing.

Many people have had Windows XP for a long time yet never tried the multiple monitor feature. As long as you got a decent video card with your pc, you can go into Properties and then on the Settings tab you should see two boxes labeled 1 and 2. You can hook up an additional monitor to watch races or movies of whatever even without the special cable.

Personally I have both hooked up. I do not even use the laptop screen, just the additional monitor and the TV. The cable cost about $15 on Ebay.

Here is some good info if you are interested.
