What is up with the Meadows? Ever since the track reopened it is playing totally different.
This has been my main track for a few years. I've had pretty good success playing horses with the fastest last half. Horses coming from the back getting second over trips would tip three wide and "look 'em in the eye and go right on by." Closers won as much as speed horses. But now it is a different story. Speed is really hanging on - the closers just are not getting it done. And is the stretch shorter now? Granted, I've only bet on a few Saturdays since they reopened but it sure looks like the track has changed bigtime.
Any thoughts from Meadows players?

Anyone whom bets the Meadows on a regular basis, should get a copy of the upcoming Horseman and Fair World...

With the shortening of the stretch by 35 feet and lengthing the start line back 35 feet, there have been some drastic changes in the way horses have won the races this year when compared to last year at this time...all is explained in the article...

I spoke to the PR guy there, the reason for the changes is because of the construction of the new casino. I assume that it will be changed back when they are done, but for now, the stretch is 35 feet shorter and the starting line 35 feet earlier. This is a big advantage for early speed both early and late.

I don't know what issue it was in, I think it was the issue before this.

I was down there for yesterdays card. I was about 80%, so I wasnt complaining. I have noticed the changes with the shorter strech. It's still not a bad place to go. I like Mountianeer better now, but this is the closest harness track to my house, so C'est La Vie

They tore the grandstand down, but not the adios room. Inside they still have a bar, live tellers, numerous autotote automatic machines, and quite a bit of seating. They open everday at 11 am with simulcasting. They also have a limited menu of salads and sandwiches, plus some other items.
