4.9% OR about $600 Billion in one quarter. Increase, as in increase.

equal to over $2 Trillion for a year.

Equal to (what a few people here seemed to think was astronomical) the cost of the Iraq War.

Yeah, but the folks that dominate off-topic (the left of center) tell us how sucky the economy is here in the US. Ooops, the stock market just went up another 500 points....

but my mother had an expression, those that know don't tell, and those that tell don't know.

my prediction gold going to over $1000 and ounce

the dow industrials heading down to the 11k area early in 2008, the reason is very simple, there is no one in the store and the prices are being marked up...........the store is the stock market.

Normally a trailing indicator of the last 4-5 recessions though.
thus I would urge you to look up the "dead cat bounce".

You will be money ahead this time next year.

And yes, I exhort you to apply the dreaded "BOOKMARK" to this post.

And no the sky is not falling but it is getting a little cloudy.

Actually more then 4 Bushmen. Remember to include skate and King Ritchie-who thinks I am a spy for the Wold Socialist Workers Party. And they pay me by the word to subvert a horse racing off topic forum with communist and terrorist propaganda

I would think the fellow who is looking for advice on laying off 4 to 6 people and the number of defaulted mortgages are good indicators also. Oh wait those aren't indicators they are current conditions.

I suspect it is closer to even. Then you have even worse reading comprehension skills than the guy you love to skewer (Skate). Or maybe it's math that is your weak point. Can you not count the number of threads and posts started by each side? It's always the left starting something, and the right reacting. Face it, without the far left, off-topic would be a ghost town.

Conversely, without the right, I doubt anyone would notice a difference around here...

hcap
12-02-2007, 04:52 PM
There are just as many threads started on the other side. It varies sometimes one faction is more active than the other. But if my reading compression is bad, your math is even worse.

Btw, skate does his fair share of skewering along with your buddy. The leader in skewering. Ostrich-Man

Just saying maybe you are seeing things thru a pair of "rose" (RED) colored glasses. Could affect your counting skills.

My distinct impression is the conservatives here outnumber the liberals, and post and start threads at least if not more than the so-called "4 Horsemen"
I would assume we have more moderates than either group, and a slew of unknown political flavor lurkers.

It seems that the most vocal, however are the extremes from both sides.

Too bad we can't poll political persuasions and get some of the quiet lurkers to vote as well

in 1999 i paid under $1.00 per gallon of oil to heat my home, today it is $3.50, my income has not gone up 3 1/2 times in that period, i still have the same vocation. abottle of french champagne has quadrupled, a hotel tell room in lisbon has gone from $85.00 a night, to $360 for the same room this year.

oh yeh, these guys are amazing. a few years back i recall 'The Media' etc. stated how the housing market was "the only strong point in our economy", now with the economy still going up in every Q and the housing markey going down (makes for perfection) all we ever hear is "how bad the housing market ".

i think housing is about 5% of our economy and the defaults are about 10 % (lower really), which brings us to a drop of 1/2%, on an economy that's going UP on a 2.5% to 3% average.

possibly you could just count the posts by each "side'. Starting a thread does not mean you have dominance of the board. Notice the thread concerning 1 laptop per child. Started with no political agenda I think, from the left. First reply comes from the right with strong political bent to it.

well, i didnt get to read your post, you seem to be taking up where hiccups Left off.

if you paid $1.00 and now you pay $3.50, guess what? your cost didnt go up 3 1/2 times either, but i assume, that's really not your point.
and since I'm the least Educated of everyone on this board, i needs a break.
