This takes a lot of practice and you cannot "cook book" it, you need an experienced person by your side while you understand the fine nuances of 'normality' within what the general book tells you to watch for.

I saw an old 9 y/o Gray gelding with one knee almost twice the size of the other (Ruritannia) and was going to discard him until my trainer friend told me that he had him at one time in the barn and this represented an old injury that had healed and did not bother him at all.

You can only look for CHANGES between races in the same horse. There are no general rules.

The great English miler Zilzal washed out horribly before each race. It was the degree that he washed out and his overall manner that were important, NOT just the qualitative idea of washing out. You had to quantify it before it was relevant.

This takes a lot of practice and a lot of record keeping to make it work. It would NOT work at a simulcast outlet at all.
