It looks like I can no longer use Betpad, Winticket to play. This morning when I tried to log in I was kicked out. When I tried to establish a new account, the message returned was they cannot now do business with Colorado residents.

Has any other Colorado players experienced this, and what are some good options for right now to bet?

I guess CO was one of those 'Gray' states with regard to account wagering. If BetPad took it down, they must have received something from the CO AG..

What about all the money in your account? Where is that?

Presently there is no money in the account. So maybe this needs to be taken into account?

Gametheory;

My account was moved over to Betpad as well, and I was able to access it till now. If you get cut off let me know. Guess I'll have to give customer service a call...

Gametheory;

Consider yourself lucky your account is still open if you are using these guys, because it is pretty clear CO res. are limited on the tracks we can wager on.

"Thank you for your application to open an account with TwinSpires.com. We regret to inform you that we are unable to accept registration from residents of Colorado. We appreciate your interest in TwinSpires.com and hope we are able to do business with you in the future. Sincerely,

As a resident of Texas I have been transferred to BetPad by Brisbet(Winticket) when Twin Spires bought them out. BetPad is owned by Beulah Park and River Downs and is not a part of Twin Spires. Are you sure you have tried to register at BetPad.com? You should not get a Twin Spires response from that site.

They aren't going to give you an account -- that's why they moved you to BetPad in the first place. I don't know why your BetPad account doesn't work, but you can get a PTC account, and YouBet takes CO residents I believe. (I don't have a YouBet account.)

I did get switched to betpad seems like a couple of months ago. I used the site regularly to watch race replays. fully functional, i could have bet if i wanted to. colorado residents, it seems, cannot use these particular services to bet as of a few weeks ago.

gametheory has mentioned PTC as a site where i could set up an account and bet.

i have yet to call betpad, winticket, etc.. directly to ask why colorado residents are restricted. i imagine i should make a call to PTC, and ask them the same question. why am i allowed to place wagers legally through their service, but not others. it seems simulcast wagering online from my home is not illegal in the state of colordao, but i can only use certain services.

question is; who is making these decisions for me? what arrangements between state government and business entities is calling the shots?

May I add this bit from the Colorado Attorney General's web site, though I think the information is out of date:

Q: Is it legal to place wagers over the internet or by calling a toll-free number in Colorado?

A: No. Internet gambling sites and telephone sports books are illegal under state and federal laws. Colorado law prohibits the transmission or reception of gambling information by any means. Federal law also prohibits the use of wire communications in interstate or foreign commerce for the placing of bets or wagers or information assisting in the placing of bets or wagers. In addition, the Colorado Constitution allows only certain types of "gambling," which does not include internet or telephone wagering.

Q: What forms of "gambling" are expressly authorized by law?

A: The Colorado Lottery; live and off-track wagering on horse and dog racing events; bingo, raffles and charitable games licensed and regulated by the Secretary of State’s office; limited stakes gaming in casinos in Black Hawk, Central City and Cripple Creek, as well as on tribal reservation land; and "social gambling."

I found out that you can't bet Charles Town & Penn National from Colorado, but you should be able to bet any other tracks that your ADW carries. (CT & PEN are owned by Penn Gaming, which owns a casino in Blackhawk, CO -- apparently that's why those are restricted.)
