To all interested participants.

Has their ever been a survey of drf handicappers { must be over a 100 ]

Would be interesting to know what software the majority use.If any.

There success rate has to be less than 25%.

ROI would be Approx...?????

Thanks in advance for your response

Rex you

Probably in the 25-28% range. ROI would be around 0.75 to 0.80.

............how could anyone have a 'reasonable' idea of what those number's
are, or could be ?? Wouldn't the personal application and specific
use of that information given govern the outcome ( sucess OR
failure ) ? And if the number's were shown to be negitive, although
not "etched in granite", but negitive nonetheless, why would
anyone with more then a two didget I.Q. pursue such folley ?

Hello Vigors,,,Not knowing your handicapping system.I know that you are
somewhere between a dartboard & brisnet software,,,What i was trying to
find was what drf public handicappers were using,,,I think it would be usefull
info,,,You seldom hear endorsements by this section of the handicaping world
Every day they post thier picks,,,Maybe they all use the old pencil and paper.
If so why are so many software systems available,,,

Rex you

The ones that I know use the DRF computer and their associated software.

In the feature columns, you will see many of the training and breeding stats they pull up from the DRF database.

Since the publishing deadline is well in advance of race day, it would be hard for them to use someting like HDW which usually doesn't give any info until 24 hours until post time.

....the following :

Hello Vigors,,,Not knowing your handicapping system.I know that you are
somewhere between a dartboard & brisnet software

You "KNOW" that I'm between a dartboard & brisnet !?!

You have just shown everyone reading this column how much you
DON'T know.
It's you "throwing the dart's" trying to come up with what you are
.................................................. ........GUESSING I use.(d)
Let's start at the "A's" ALL-WAY'S...I spoke with it's creator, Gary Frandsen
for 2 1/2 hour's the day his first add came out, and he questioned me ad
nauseium once he understood I knew much more then he did ( I know I'm
a neophete compared to MOST on this board ). Then there was John
Rancott's close-nite group ( the software's name escape's, but it cost
about $1,300 )then ALL-IN-ONE and Pizzola's first program.
NONE OF THE ABOVE USED BRIS FILE'S !

I hope you have ALOT BETTER way of coming to what you "KNOW"
when you're selecting horse's........as for what "I KNOW", you play
and bet, the consense's top play to 'show'.............see how it feel's
when someone who "know's" about you and what you do, state's the
absurd ( beside's I "KNOW" for a "FACT" that you make those bet's to
"PLACE".
I don't want to have a 'pissing' contest with you ( which I'd probably
win because I'm taking Lasix for treatment of CHF ),all that being said,
I just felt short-changed by your response....pigeon-holeing me into a
catagory....which caused my satirial response.....and I mean nothing
personal against you.....and to quote RODNEY KING...." WHY CAN'T WE
ALL JUST GET ALONG"
I don't drink, but next time you're in Vegas, let me
buy you a drink....then we can laugh at how big my nose is.

Right or wrong, not everybody shares your views. My response was to the first part of your reply, which was "how could anyone have a 'reasonable' idea of what those number's are, or could be ?? " I can get a very reasonable idea based on experience. It's about 25-28% and an ROI of around 0.80. It would be lower (as it was in the 1960's through early 1990's) if most didn't use software to help them arrive at their selections.

As for your determination of which software uses BRIS files, I don't remember All Ways ever NOT using BRIS files.

Rancount's software is now known as Stealth.

I also wasn't aware that the first two or three versions of All In One didn't use BRIS files.

I also seem to remember that Pizzolla's very first program (circa 1991 and pre-ITS) used BRIS files; possibly his second program, too.

........ALL I was trying to say was this : REGUARDLESS of the TYPE of
software....that has NOTHING...0....nada to do with the RESULT'S !!
What I AM saying is that it is the handicapper, NOT THE SOFTWARE
they use.
If your position had any merit or validity, then one could
simply go to a site and have a slew of program's with the heading's :
"BOZO TRACK" a cheerful program for $295, with limit's you to a possible
.08 negitive R.O.I., or you can try our newest model "Pseudo-
Satisfaction", where when probably played, you can achieve near
perfection with a R.O.I. of 0.91...for $425 ( which if purchased by the
end of the month, will allow you to update to our next break-through
program :"BLACK BOX BLUE'S"....our beta-tester's have shown profit's
nearing 'break -even'....Only $795.00 )

Batterie's not included -
