I take it your expected winners is based on odds, i.e. # of expected winners = 0% profit?

Bill, the number of expected winners = 1/(odds+1)
That is the expected win % for a 1-1 horse =50% (unadjusted for take out) . In order to make a 6% profit with this horse, my picks must win 53% of the time .

The "true" expectancy for this horse is 42.50 % at a 15% take-out track, I must out perform the betting public by 24.7%

Not an easy job!!!
