In all the discussion of great baseball players , little or nothing has been mentioned of Fergie Jenkins . The bulk of his prime pitching in batter friendly Wrigley Field , consider : 6 consecutive 20 game seasons , 20 or more complete games in 8 seasons . Won the cy young in 1971 where in 325 innings allowed only 37 walks striking out 263 with a 2.77 era ( didn't do bad with the bat either hitting .243 in 115 ab with 6 home runs in the same year ) . He went on to do well with the Rangers as well going 25 - 12 in 1974 with a 2.82 era . Finished his career with an overall 284-226 record and a hall of famer as well .
