"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic U.S. presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich may have been ridiculed for saying he had seen a UFO, but for some former military pilots and other observers, unidentified flying objects are no laughing matter.

An international panel of two dozen former pilots and government officials called on the U.S. government on Monday to reopen its generation-old UFO investigation as a matter of safety and security given continuing reports about flying discs, glowing spheres and other "

Maybe Kuccinich is on to something. Was surprised to read Ronald Reagan had seen one as well.

I saw a swept-wing Air Force "ufo" over I-5 a few years ago. Since I have seen night carrier opeations it was very easy for me to ID it as a swept-wing F-117a just like they look on TV.
Since I have also seen several times test rockets launched from Vandenburg I recognize green flames during separation, and I have seen a very clear large meteorite with a flame coming off the back end, so I know what those look like too!
Here in Alameda we have many Canadian Geese around so I do see the lights reflecting off their bellies while they fly high in formation at night (not very often) also. Only leaves a very few UFO's that remain unknown to me.

there is such a thing as the black ops budget..............

Look up the Aurora project............as an example...........

Hmm, maybe it was 2 UFOs that smashed into the WTC.

Why not tie two ludicrous theories together into one blockbuster? A conspiracy theorist's wet dream.

If you listened to Coast to Coast this last weekend, you would have heard that former Arizona governor Symington has also publicly stated he has seen a UFO -- also seen by numerous others. See his home page for more. (http://www.fifesymington.com/)

Black Ops- secret budgets for aircraft- basically started in 1947 when the Air Force seperated from the Arny out of the Army Air Corps- and they got funding for a lot of secret projects.

Why is it that when the space monkeys come down to earth they only reveal themselves to a couple of pig farmers from Arkansas?

Our own Milky Way has millions of stars.
There are millions of galaxies like the Milky Way each with millions of stars.
Given those numbers, anyone who thinks that we are "alone" in the cosmos,
is denying probability. UFO's? Just surprising that we haven't seen more of them.

I'll tell ya what. If you really think that intelligent life would spend a MINIMUM of 8.6 light years (http://hypertextbook.com/facts/KathrynTam.shtml) (round trip) to travel back and forth to little old earth in their tiny, ultra sophisticated, faster than the speed of light, space monkey mobiles, stop here to pick up a few samples, and then head back home, then you've been watching too many episodes of Space Family Robinson. (I guess it could be students on a field trip.)

Oh, but I forgot. They open a porthole in the space-time continuum and just pass right through in a matter of minutes. (Seconds?) If that's the case, then why do they need a rinky-dink little space ship? Why not just step on through and be done with it?

It's a physical imposibility to travel faster than the speed of light.

We're the only intelligent life there is anywhere, period, end of story.

There is a logical explanation for every UFO, close encounter (ugh!), and sighting that's ever been reported.

And for all of those who say otherwise, I have one very simple response--prove it.

.

I'm not sure how intelligent life on earth is.
At any rate, your original premise that "It's a physical impossibility to travel faster than the speed of light." is running into some serious challenges.
More reports each month of nuclear particles behaving different than expected. Light itself, going faster than light.
For example, check out

http://www.abc.net.au/science/news/stories/s154610.htm

In a century or two, we'll see how well that hypothesis holds up.

Two German physicists have recently demonstrated microwave photons moving faster than the speed of light.
The article is at http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/main.jhtml?xml=/earth/2007/08/16/scispeed116.xml

All of this is reminiscent of:

There was a young woman named Bright.
Whose speed was much faster than Light.
She set out one day,
in a relative way,
And returned the previous night.

Just as they laughed at Columbus falling off the Earth since they did not understand the technology.

How bout the people in 1960 saying a personal home computer would be so big, it would need it's own room with cooling attached? Now one that does million times more fits in the palm of your hand.

One thing that is true is that we will not be around in 1,000 years or so when this attitude is looked upon with the same humor.

When I moved a fellow years ago, he knew I was headed to medical school and as he was finishing up his residency, he gave me a medical text circa 1905.

The ideas were outrageous. As things change, historical reviews of what was considered gospel become downright funny.

The space monkeys are everywere. We've all seen the videos, the photos, and heard the first hand accounts. So why then all the secrecy? Why don't they just land on the White House lawn and introduce themselves? Isn't that what we would do if the situation were reversed? Of course it is.

Doesn't it seem strange to anyone (but me?) that they would come from some distant galaxy perhaps hundreds of light years away in some sort of contraption right out of a Buck Rogers serial?

Granted, scienctific advancmetns astound us all. What was only dreamed of 150 years ago is commonplace today. But how many advancements can you think of that defy the laws of physics?

Look, if these space monkeys were out there then they would have absolutely no reason not to show themselves. How could we harm them? Why would we want to? All they have to do is turn on their ulra-spamdinky-mind bending, force shield protectors and no harm would come to them. They took all that time to get here, so what's the big deal? Surely they have advancements we've never even dreamed of. How could mere mortals such as ourselves do them any harm? Surely they can defy the laws of physics. If we could defy the laws of physics and travel to distant solar systems wouldn't we want to teach those farther behind in development what we have learned? Of course we would--so why wouldn't they?

Oh, they are evil and just want to probe our privates, take our sperm and impregnate their females. This is L. Ron Hubbard at his finest.

I've got to admit the vidoes and stories all look good and sound plausable, but they defy logic and common sense.

Let them show themselves for the world to see. But that will never happen, because they don't exist.

Can't slip anything past either you or bigmack! :)

As to traveling faster than the speed of light, that is what Einsteins theory asserts. As others have already stated, the assumption that Einstein completely solved the riddle is being challenged. Who knows perhaps one day there'll be a new theory that will pale in comparison just as Newton's laws did once quatum mechanics was understood.

I'm gonna say that we have not been visited and also that given the vast size of what bits we can "see" at this time that the odds are 1-5 that there is life somewhere out there.

I think there is a new theory coming along that stuff may escape a black hole?
thanks for the link.

Two German physicists have recently demonstrated microwave photons moving faster than the speed of light...... Somewhat misleading. Although scientists seeking glory is all two common.

An appropriate analogy -->
You’re on a train traveling at light speed. You, a photon of light energy begin to run forward in that same train. Technically yes, the photon is moving faster than light speed. Once you reach the conductor position and unable to move forward you stop and continue to speed across the universe at the same speed/velocity you originally began with. Faster than light travel may be possible under very specific conditions. Conditions BTW which might be impossible to satisfy for any object with mass (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass).

An interesting paradox nevertheless. What it means will be debated for centuries to come.

I totally agree .... we're not alone in this vast universe . However , why any highly intelligent space travelers , capable of racing through light years of space , would zero in on a planet such as ours where its inhabitants spend the bulk of their energy blowing each other up , is beyond me !!! Its like ... would you drive several thousand miles in your car to watch a bunch of ants fight over a candy bar ??
