This question probably doesn't apply to speed and pace handicappers because I would assume they take each race on an individual basis.
I happen to be a spot player and base my selections on form patterns and trainer moves. I have found it often pays me to follow up with a play on horses that lose. I like to bet horses that are just coming into condition and many times I bet them a race too soon. My reasoning is that I catch some real bombs before they tip their hand and if they happen to have needed that race I can always bet them next time. I found that my win % increased considerably by giving some horses 2 shots rather than one. Of course, one must evaluate carefully why the horse lost and not just play them back blindly.
Does anyone else do this or something simular?
