I just heard (allegedly) that Torre was just hired as manager of the Dodgers.

If thats true, wow.. Wonder if he brings Rivera along.

Don't know about Rivera, but Donnie Baseball as bench coach looks to be almost a certainty................:)

Well dodgers can't hit for shit, so Mattingly cannot hurt..

It will be interesting to see if Torre can succeed with average talent and without a DH. I thought he was an ok manager, but a bit overrated, considering the insane talent he always had. We shall see.

Could the Dodgers become the Yankees? Why would Torre, at this age, put his legacy on the line?

because he could prove that the Yankees were wrong and he could lead another team to victory (playoffs)

For Torre, that is chump change, he was getting 7.5 in his last year with Yankees.

The latest is he getting 5 years and 14 million! I don't see how Mattingly can wait 5 years to be a Manager.

Yanks gave Girardi 2.6 million a year for 3 years and he has managed all of one year!

That is about a million more than Francona who has won 2 World Series!

Cause think about how he left - on a 7 year 'losing streak'..

All opinions aside, I think some people started to doubt how good he actually was and the 'overrated' term came to mind.

He could probably put that all aside if he can get the Dodgers into the postseason a few times.
