I just stumbled upon this website a few nights ago & am really liking the analytical nature of handicapping that I'm seeing here...

Having grown up on the racetrack and managed to pursue a professional career, I managed to get away from the racing scene while in school, etc. Because of the 10+ year hiatus, I can't believe how much the handicapping game has changed during that time! The computer age has (apparently) spawned software programs and mathematical 'systems' that I would have never imagined just a few years ago.

That said, I must confess that I'm intrigued by these types of programs and systems, not so much because I would rely on them for my 'capping, but for a tool to help with my more antiquated 'technique'. Could any of you point me in a direction that better explains some of the software programs currently available or even some of the tried-and-true 'systems' that have gained popularity due to their models of consistency? Likewise, are there other sites, with or without forums, that are similar to PA?

Thanks for your help & I hope I can contribute to your community!

Welcome "WG"!

Couple of sites with top shelf software packages:
Jcapper - http://jcapper.com/
Htr - http://www.homebased2.com/forums/
Rdss - http://bindfold.com/forums/

Good hunting.

Welcome to the board WG. If you can get past the sniping, name-calling, and general idiocy that's been somewhat pervasive here lately you will find some outstanding information here. Many people are willing to help and many threads are downright interesting and thought-provoking.

There are plenty of threads that discuss handicapping software. I suggest doing a search and reading those (there are lots) and if you have any further questions just ask. Same goes for systems but you may find less useful info as I don't believe that the 'cappers here rely on any commercial ones. Maybe their own systems, but they may or may not be willing to share those.

And, there is no better site than PA so you don't need to look any further. :)

Looking forward to your contributions.
