Russell Baze wins 6 and Frank Alvarado wins 2, with the highest win price being $6.80. Pick 3's paying $5, doubles paying less than $3, Pick 6 paying $59.

How do people play that track?

Looks like paradise for the "chalk eating weasel" types... the only entity that benefits in this situation is "the House" because they get "the Take."

What if you are a chalk eating weasel who can handicap, and bet the good faves, and chucked out the bad?

Then you are a rich chalk eating weasel :)

PS: I know someone that does quite well at BM. A couple of those speed chalk today were right up his alley. I bet he had a good day.
PPS: No, he's not chickenhead :)

How is a day like this noteworthy, with the pathetic 4,5 & 6 horse fields that dominate the daily cards at Bay Meadows. I can't wait until they close that place. I spent many an afternoon and evening there in the 80's, when the racing and the field sizes were good. I don't even bother looking at the PPs for it any more.

When did the pathetic wagering ever leave this track?

Kind of hard for racing in general and horseplayers in particular to keep pissing on lotteries and slots when they allow the Bay Meadows' menagerie to continue. It belongs in Arizona!

By comparison, SF Giants I believe averaged over 30,000 attendance per day rooted in last place.
When racing was "good" in the 1980's, there were not 4 or more indian casino within 3 hour drive from BM (Jackson, Thunder Valley, Konocti, Cache Creek, a bigger San Pablo club).
