For those that use Netcapper religiously, what are the highlights of the program and what is the learning curve?
Thanks

My problem with programs like Netcapper, and a few others, that only use high priced data, and still charge $400.00 for their program. I've paid as high as $800.00 for software, and didn't mind because it worked with TSN's eg and pcs files, as well as DRF files. I get unlimited PCS files for $47.50 pr month.
Just my opinion,

I used Netcapper for a year or so up until about two years ago so take my outdated review for what it is worth. Honestly, I think it is a well-thought out program and Gordon Pine's support was second to none. It started out as primarily a value-based, impact value, odds-line driven program that morphed into more of a spot-play methodology. Gordon was very liberal about adding spot plays but my issue with it was that I wanted the ability to create spot plays on the fly without "hard" programming from the designer and to be able to fine tune with research as I obtained more data.
Gordon began to emphasize charting and technical analysis tools for the spot plays similar to what one sees in stock analysis. It may work for some but I was just never comfortable with that methodology for horse racing compared to a supply and demand market like securities. Nonetheless, I admire him for the bold approach, it just didn't work for me.
I have now switched to JCapper because it gives me that freedom to be creative and research my own spot plays endlessly. Also, Jeff has included so many solid proprietary ratings that are otherwise unavailable to the general population, that the chances for a legitimate edge increase dramatically.
The $100 per month for unlimited data plan with Netcapper/CDW never bothered me and in fact, I preferred it to the "pay for every card" plan that Bris requires for DRF single files and XRD results files. I built a historical database recently so I just can't understand why Bris has to charge full price for archived data with no volume discounts whatsoever.
That's my two cents for what it's worth.

I was hoping this thread would go away. I'm a Netcapper fanatic, but I tend to play smaller tracks and can live without more competition.
I've used it for several years. It's learning curve is as high as you want to make it. If you download/run a weeks worth of data, you'll have a model and can begin playing.
It has spot plays but I never use them.
For me the odds line and the way it measures it's own performance is the major thing. Other guys play different ways.
It's kind of like riding a bike-it's easy to do but hard to explain. :)

Not to side track this interesting discussion, but if you bet $200 or more a month through brisbet, you get a 20% discount on all current brisnet data purchased for the month.

But if you bet $3000 with PTC, you get your HDW Netcapper data free
BTW same deal goes with Rich Rosa's product.
