At work we are given free copies of North American Trainer, and in the Fall 2007 issue, there is a very interesting story by Niki Sweetnam called "Reinventing the Wheel." It chronicles the invention, by Mehmet Kurt, of the Kurt Thoroughbred Training System in, of all places, Turkey. In trying to locate more about it, I came across this video of it on You Tube.

A very innovative and interesting concept. They hope to expand it to being able to access cardiac and O2 utilization while under training conditions to measure fitness.

Is it true that all ruinners have times to the hundreth second and then all but the winner' are converted to lengths behind?

You would have to ask the chart man. I just report positional differences from calculated lengths behind on the panorama shot of each race. I have seen the clock report in hundreths but how that is used compared to the beaten lengths would be pure conjecture.

http://www.finishlynx.com/products/finishlynx/overview/index.htm is the website for the camera system we used called Finish Lynx.

If a training center were to open up, the effective use of this would bring the cost down. Great for diagnosis of problems under the actual stress of racing conditions. That is the potential long term benefit here. Most current evaluations are secondary signs.

Does that thing have a motor? A driver? Brakes? Heck, let's just race these rigs.

I get the impression that it is like an upside down monorail with openings for the horses.
