Below is a link to a page that may bring back some memories from this time of plastic.

We have computers now and they can do things much faster. Anyone using their slide rule to do multiplication or division these days?

Looks like this particular device was ahead of it's time with track equalization and comparing distances.

nj: thanks for the link. It brought back a lot of memories.

I know a man who probably has most of those. I've seen a drawer in his basement that is full of those gadgets.

I'd have to admit to buying the K2 (for $30), Kel-Co Calculator, and at least four of the Mattel handicappers.

The Mattel one was pretty good in its day. Sprints were weighted on early position at the first two calls, and Routes were based on class and consistency; both sound ideas.
