Thanks Jog! Great way to start the morning…

Best live version of that classic I’ve heard. If any Metheny / Pastorious fanatics are out there buying the re-mastered version of “Bright Size Life” is well worth it imo. Pat wrote extensive liner notes about playing with Jaco from 72-76 in Florida and NY and the re-mix is fantastic.

(Btw: That tune was the title track from a trio album written by Metheny featuring Jaco in 1975 if anyone is keeping score at home..) :)

I want to hear any Methany-Jaco you can provide!!! I probably didn't read your message right, I was up all night with 5 kittens and an irritable gray parrot in the same room and no one slept! I rearranged everything so everyone can sleep from now on. Now I'm too bushed to concentrate... anyway I would like to hear that if it exists.

Just heard something by McLaughlin's Shakti last night. The gentleman with the double violin (his names escapes, natch) was delightful.

I don't recall the vintage of the issue but Joe Pass was asked to review the LP Bright Size Life in DownBeat and tore into the diatonic drone that Metheny has a tendancy to deliver. It's amazing the amount of work PM puts out that feels cut from the same cloth. BSLife was cut in '75.

That's L.Shankar with JMcLaughlin TT. By the by, strap on the tabla player, Zakir Hussian sometime.
