I'm having problem's being able to rename the compleate D: section
of my computer , which only has "pcs" file's ( for horseracing software )
...the .pcs file is a ".drf " file, however, my new program won't accept
the ".pcs ", only ".drf "
I've downloaded a half dozen "rename" program's....I guess I just don't have
enough computer savey to remember the way "DOS" file's did this.
I've tried several way's using the " * " as in the ' *.pcs ' routine
however, I must be missing or forgetting something.....or most likely, I'm
just "dumb as nail's".

Open a command prompt and try these DOS commands:
rename *.pcs *.drf
or copy *.pcs *.drf
Remember to hit the space bar after copy and and after *.pcs
Copying may be a better idea...

....thanks for your response, but I have no idea on even accessing
DOS,...it was 1993 thru 1994,..when I last used it, then WIN 95 came out.
Let me explain, the only thing's I've learned computerwise has
been from Horseplayer software....so I don't have what you'd call
knowledgeable base of computer experience/resources to draw
from. There must be some way of doing
this file re-naming in a Window's platform, yes?

Start. All Programs. Accessories. Command prompt.
--- or ---
Start. Run... then in the field labeled "Open" type cmd and press enter.
To close/leave the DOS command prompt window either enter the command exit or click on the "X" close button on the upper right of the window.

windoz is stupid in that there is no easy way to batch rename files.......
There is a free program that does exactly what you want very easily. It's a freeware program called "The Rename" and can be downloaded here:

..........and GRATITUDE to michiken and DJofSD,...boy, that renaming the
extention's had me talking to myself, I dreaded the thought of going over
748 file's ( count 'em ) AND doing them one by one.
SAL...that program you told me about ( which I downloaded ) was
really FANTASTIC...but over my head ( I spent half an hour trying all the
goodie's and experimenting....and I'm POSITIVE that anyone with half a
brain - and alot SMALLER nose - could have figured it out in a few
minutes. All you guy's are GREAT...and I thank you
