Does anyone know where I can purchase a copy of Probets II? It's a old DOS program, kind of "clunky", but it provides a fairly accurate set of contenders. It's a program that consolidates the top three picks, from whatever source one wishes to use (software currently using, DRF picks, Sartin parameters, etc.) I've attempted to contact George Green, the creator of Probets, but no answer. If anyone has any ideas, please feel free to comment. Thanks much.

I had the original Probets from the 80's and I got a new copy from
George Green from Greenthings. I did all the business via the internet and
got the copy via email. This was about 2 years ago but he's been in business
for ever so I think you just have to search for the right link. I don't have
anything at my finger tips regarding his street address but if I come across
it I will let you know. It seems he was in Coranado Ca but thats just a guess.

Thanks so much; I was afraid to use my credit card without contacting him first. A couple of times I've e-mailed him and received no answer, which put up "red" flags; however, I'm close to Coronardo, so maybe I can contact him. Thanks so much for your input, this is very helpful.
Much Appreciated

I bought his SPEEDPLUS back in the early 80s and used it for years, then I lost everything on my old comp. and have tried to connect with him for a couple years but no luck. I remember when I bought the program I paid an additional 25 bucks or so for any upgrades. When I did talk with him in the 80s he was very nice. If you have any luck reaching him let me know.
Good racing luck

I too, purchased Speedplus from him many years ago; a fine program for it's time. But Probets is timeless, because all you do, is utilize all your software picks, favorite handicapping parameters, etc. and a set of odds identifies a fairly accurate set of contenders for ya.
I was able to contact George Green today, but I'm fortunate, I live fairly close to Coronardo, so I visited him today. Yes, he is a very nice fellow and very helpful. He is in the process of making it possible to print out the parameters of this program on a printer other than "dot matrix"; so it may take awhile before this project is completed. But he did promise to give me a copy of this "new" revision via e-mail. Lookin' forward to using this program again.
I brought out my "old XT" with Probets on it, but the next day it "died". Boy, that "dates" me; it had a "large" hard drive of "4 mgs" and I thought I was in heaven with such a large amount of memory. Now if you have only 30 "gigs", it's considered small. The "times, they are a changin"...

Crest;
Let me know how you are doing with the Program. Are you still using SPEEDPLUS? I found an old floppy disk of speedplus but I can't get it to work. Everything goes pretty good till I try to trans port it and I get a message "This is not a speedplus file." I am glad you got to see George I hope he is in good health.
Good Luck
Geno :)

I utilized Probets many years ago, with different consensus picks, etc. This of course produced limited success, but now, I have many other software programs and I wanted to try Probets, utilizing a kind of super consensus. This only lasted one day, because Probets resided on my old XT, then it died. As of now, I'm still waiting for George to e-mail the revised copy of Probets, which I assume may take awhile.
I haven't used Speedplus for many years. I have a old copy on a 5 1/4 floppy, which I can't use. Many years ago I used this program with the Sartin materials (Phase 3) with pretty good success. But like many methods, they seem to disappear, and I moved on to other things. If you could use my old copy on 5 1/4, I would be happy to send it do you.
Yes, George seems to be in good health; he lives in one of the most splendid areas of San Diego, Coronardo. What a marvelous place to reside, quiet, beaches, and the only way to visit is the Coronardo bridge and the Ferry. Beautiful view of the entire city of San Diego. Probably some of the most expensive property in the U.S. Check ya later.
Good 'cappin
