Noticed in the BRIS PPs that tonight's (9/13) Retama card has:

Rolling Doubles (Races 1-9) at 12% takeout.
Rolling Pick-3s (Races 1-8) at 12% takeout.
Ten-cent trifectas, as well as ten-cent supers, in all races.
(Race #1 is Arabians.)

Are they trying something new, or is this SOP for them?

Retama has offered reduced take-out P3 for several years now. Not sure about the DD. 10-cent trifecta, now that's scraping a new low.

I believe they followed suit when HOU offered their 12% Pk-3's several years ago (5 or 6?). I haven't heard of the doubles or the 10 cent Tri's though. Good for them, they are really hurting for handle.

I've been watching the pools there this evening. It appears those playing could care less about the reduced take based upon which pools are taking the money.

Here are final pools from the just completed 5th race.

Exacta - $23,594
Tri - $17,215
Super - $11,459

Daily Double - $855
Pick 3 - $1,952

Pretty much the same for the first four races as well. With the exception being the daily double on races 1 and 2 which got up to $2,575.

The track announcer has mentioned the reduced take over the pa so it is being promoted.

As many people here that consistently cry for lower takeout, the times that tracks reduce it show that no extra revenue is generated.

Sad but true! The only way to help the player is with rebates, plain and simple.
