With all the training they've done, the one comment I'm not expecting to see in the charts is: THE GREEN MONKEY raced greenly. :D

The Green Monkey, a son of Forestry, returned to the worktab in June and has worked 11 times this year, including a half-mile move in 47.15 seconds out of the gate last Saturday.
"I think the most important change this year is that the horse is physically very healthy," Pletcher said Thursday by phone from the Keeneland yearling sales. "Any time you have a horse that's had minor aches and pains like he had as 2-year-old - it never allowed him to show his true ability. We've been able to train him accordingly this year because he's been healthy. Because of that, he's gotten better and performed better in the morning."

I was just looking at the form now and GM has some really good works. It's cool to see that $16,000,000 by his name! :) Some of the others in this race look really good too though. Holla Bend seems like he made a great effort in his last race at big odds. I'm also intrigued by that expensive Johannesburg colt, Bujagali, who had some trouble last race. It seems that the GM will have some legitimate competition. I wonder if Pletcher will want to go all out for the win or just get the colt some experience in his first race. I probably won't be betting on this race, unless Holla Bend is huge odds, but I will definitely be excited to see GM's debut.

I'm still at a loss as to what makes the pedigree of the Green Monkey so special that it warranted $16,000,000. There is no question that he's nicely bred, but that is an unbelievable price.
