A cancer researcher has found a way to burn salt water, a novel invention that is being touted by one chemist as the "most remarkable" water science discovery in a century.

Goodbye fossil fuels! Talk about clean burning.

How much energy does it take to start and sustain the release of hydrogen then how much energy can you harness from the burning of the hydrogen?

Hydrogen didn't work out too well for the Hindenburg...

Did they say how to put the fire in the water out?

There are lots of ways to separate hydrogen from oxygen...at first blush I don't get what the excitement is about. If this takes much less energy to do it, great, but there is no info to that regard.

How much energy does it take to start
That is the real key though push comes to shove & we're talking about combustible water. Repeat, combustible water! Remarkable.

Now I know what the expression 'fire water' really meant. Ugg.

It has already been pointed out that it takes more energy to make the water burn, than it gives off.................

"When they find out how to burn water
And the gasoline car is gone,
When an airplane flies without any fuel
And the sunlight heats our homes,
One of these days when the air clears up
And the sun comes shining through,
We'll all be drinkin' that free Bubble-Up
And eatin' that rainbow stew."

VNR,

Penn State University - chemistry dept. has confirmed this story.
I need to start a “Save our Oceans” conservatory from evil capitalist.

While the phenomenon is interesting, it is not yet practical for energy generation. More energy is consumed by the radio frequency device than is produced for burning. Efficiency-wise, they are presently at around 76 percent of Faraday's theoretical limit.

Hydrogen didn't work out too well for the Hindenburg...
They just did a new study (shown on A&E) and found that it was the inflammable paint on the covering that was the culprit there.
