When I open a Windows Explorer page to look at files all I want are 4 columns -- Name, Size, Type and Date Modified.

Is there a way to globally set all Windows Explorer pages to open up the same way with the same settings?

Ever since I made some audio dubs from my hard drive to CD the column headings are set to

Name
Size
Type
Artist
Album Title
Year
Track Number
Duration

I can go in a manually change each Windows Explorer window to how I want them to be displayed. But every time I open a folder I haven't looked at in awhile, I have to change the column headings. Ugh!

I can't figure out how to do something as simple as that, so I thank you for your help.

try this

open a folder

go to the "tools" menu

"folder options"

hit the "view" tab

when it opens.......set your folders up by using the menu

then hit the "apply to all folders" button

see what happens

try this .......................
...........................
............... see what happens

I'll be damned. It worked! :jump:

Why couldn't I figure that out? --- Don't answer that. :D

Thanks, Ralph. I really appreciate it. It was very annoying to have to change the column settings every time I wanted to sort by Date Modified.

Hi Ralph,

I just opened up a folder and it has the same old column headings -- artist, albut title, year, track number and duration.

Why would one of the folder revert to this?

Because you have checked that each folder can have its own individual settings?
