The greatest beatdowns in history

I received an e-mail Wednesday night from a friend saying his wife has been kidding about her passion for the Orioles all these years.

That'll happen when your team suffers one of the worst losses in history.

Here's one writer's opinion of the top 100 beatdowns:

1. Secretariat destroys the field at the 1973 Belmont Stakes by an astonishing 31 lengths to win the Triple Crown ... "He is moving like a TREMENDOUS machine!" (http://youtube.com/watch?v=cS4f6wiQJh4) A performance so dominating spectators were weeping in the stands.

The number of lengths a horse wins by is totally meaningless. It only throws light on the poor quality of the rest of the field.

Not a very good observation, given this particular racehorse and this particular race.

Your comment is totally meaningless.

At this point I have to use this guy that's lying down, dying of laughter.
