One of the benefits of poly was supposed to be fewer scratches from off-turf races. Has this in fact been realized? My perception is NO.

I vote for NO, but then again the clowns that sell it keep touting that and the purchasers keep buying it with NO evidence.

it may be fewer but it is skewed

a top-class turf horse would be silly to run on that junk. - pass and enter in a turf race soon

a middle of the road horse will love it ! they are all there doing ran dances , hoping for an off-the-turf, and the favorite scratches and now its wide open for $100,000

What ever happened to the scientific method? Some clown tells people having a staple in your ear will cure you of _______________ (take your pick), and people sign up without investigating it one bit.

Same here.

With all due respect 46 now I KNOW I’m on the right side of this debate. ;)

There is no proof as Poly is so variable track to track day to day.

Again, no science to back up claims one way or the other. Chaos would be a better description of predicting it's day to day character except at Woodbine where it is much the same as the track was before it was used.

I guess I should have asked if anyone can run actual stats on this subject.
Thanks.

I don't know what 46 is yapping about - I'll see if I can run some numbers on the actual question about scratches tonight. Not sure exactly how to go about it, but I'll figure out something.

When persons on this forum run queries on their databases to answer some of our "querable" questions...I am VERY appreciative, even when the results prove me wrong.

You've spent money and time to accumulate the database and more time to run our queries in addition to your own. May you win more than 50% of your photo-finishes!
