Maybe I am reading this release wrong, but it seems to me that this release implies that Ellis Park and Churchill can not agree on an acceptable resolution. Also, what a classless act that Churchill is by coming out and stating that members of Churchill's management team that are no longer with Churchill were responsible for this issue.

They've done this before to the southern Indiana OTBs. Trying to force people to cross the river to wager again....

The issue I have is that Churchill appears to be so arrogant toward its former management personnel and its seemingly holier than thou attitude about themselves. Ellis Park's handles have been down significantly this meet because of Tracknet and the fact that Ellis negotiated away the rights to CDI for its signal when it was purchased from Churchill. Now it seems that CDI and Ellis could not reach an acceptable resolution to this issue, implying that there may be some tensions between CDI and Ellis.

CDI can not conquer the racing world. They have the Kentucky Derby. Churchill itself is a nice track, but hardly indispensable. TVG and Youbet each increased handles in the 2Q without any Churchill handle. Arlington is nice, but again Youbet showed it can operate fine without it. Calder is just a decent track given its handles, and the Louisiana horsemen are determined not to allow Tracknet to withhold the Fair Grounds signal to Youbet and perhaps others.

Magna's troubles works to the industry's advantage if GP and other tracks end up in the hands of people other than Churchill. I seriously doubt casino operators like Boyd, PENN and Harrahs will be restricting racing signals to any ADW willing to pay a fair price for it.

Enough of this nonsense. Churchill is a major player, but hardley the only player in the game and their significance might actually diminish rather soon as Magna goes into the toilet.

No idea whatever of relative scales, here, but would Ellis dropping the Indianna blackout in exchange for regaining control of its own signal be a reasonable trade?

I AM NEW TO THIS FORUM AND THIS IS MY FIRST POST.

NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUNSTANCES WERE THE KHPA WAS NOT GOING TO OKAY THE SIGNAL TO BE SENT OVER THE LINE.

INDIANA DOWNS HAS A HABIT OF EXPECTING EVERYTHING TO BE HANDED OVER TO THEM.THEY WAITED TILL CHURCHILL BUILT EVERYTHING IN INDIANA AND THEN THEY CAME IN BECAUSE OF THE CASINO SUBSIDY WHICH THEY HAD TO SPLIT, THIS IN TURN MADE BOTH TRACKS UNPROFITABLE.

I HOPE INDIANA DOWNS GOES BUST TRYING TO MAKE A GO WITH THEIR SLOTS

Welcome to the forum! As far as Indiana going broke with slot machines, they would be the first one! (Although Frankie has found a way to struggle with them at GP) :D

The way I read the article, Churchill's decision creates more business for Ellis Park by forcing players from Indiana to the Kentucky side. Why would Ellis object to that? After all, the agreement protects Ellis Park.

Thanks for the welcome. The way they are situated the only people who will be playing are from the INDY area. The people east of the track have 2-3 full blown riverboats on the IN side of KY and OH.

THEY HAVE TO PAY A $ 250 MILLION LICENSE FEE WITHIN A YEAR AND ARE LIMITED TO 2,000 MACHINES AND HAVE TO SPEND AT LEAST 100 MILLION ON A NEW CASINO.THIS IS ON TOP OF THE TAXES ON GROSS INCOME ON THE SLOTS.IF THE MACHINES AVG $ 500 A DAY PROFIT WHICH IS HIGH THEY MIGHT TURN A PROFIT 4-5 YRS DOWN THE ROAD.

I second the welcome, but please turn off your "Caps Lock". It is hard to read, generally called yelling or shouting and pretty universally considered impolite from the BBS days.
