And never worry about class shifts. They are meaningless there (well most places as well) but really meaningless there.

I checked this tract out and it seem that all they have is 6 and 7 horse fields. This make the odds very tight! I just looked at todays card, is this pretty much the standard?

no, but then again you can usually dismiss half the field almost every race.

I love this little track. Caught a $928 exacta there last week.

Ho hum! Another bragger with an an alleged big payoff they got. In my opinion, why not earn one's bragging rights by first listing some picks in the selections section. Next, if one hits some big-paying win selections and/or exotics, plus shows a profit after let's say a series of 25 selections or more, then the bragging looks more legitimate.

With the bigger influx of purses secondary to the casino, the racing has changed......Lots of shippers trying to score the big money.

You can find all my picks on TVG in the "free picks" for Prairie Meadows section.
2nd at prairie 3/1 won, got DQ'd
3rd at prairie 9/1 won paid $21
4th 3/5 chalk, passed couldn't get 2-1, ran second.

I got the big exacta by boxing the top three power ratings last week.

A track much like a roulette wheel. The trick is knowing which track shows up which day.

that's like the rich guy in let it ride, mad because the guy who did all the work won't tell who he likes in the race.

for the record, I LOVE mountineer park.. i play it every night it's up. it's year round, and I have a good feel for everyone and what they can do.

It's not the track taht's inconsistant if you ask me.. it's that a lot of bettors don't understand the dynamics in playing bottom level claimers.. it's not whoose GOOD enough. it's whoose HEALTHY enough

That's an interesting comment. I have about 5 tracks that I play regularly, but over the last few months I have started handicapping other tracks....broaden my horizons, and increase my chances of finding a "play". I am finding the biggest adjustment is learning about shippers/class levels, etc. Not used to that factor at my "home" track of Hastings, where the nearest track is 3 hours away..

I have bought a simulcast form for tomorrow (Wednesday), and am looking at the first couple of races at Penn National. For me, both races are a definite "pass". I dont have a clue for the first...and the second is only marginally better. Are these races a "pass" for most people, or am I missing something? Thanks for any input

When they started in May they raced only Monday and Tuesday and had larger fields. Now they race Saturday through Tuesday and have shorter fields. They are hoping that the days when other tracks are dark will boost their simulcast handle. If they handle $1 million on a Tuesday about $60,000 will be on track.
Not much value here except the occasional poly to dirt longball. They do overbet the leading rider though so that can produce some decent payouts when he's aboard one with no chance.
