View Full Version : YouBet Payoff Question

I was under the impression that YouBet paid track odds. Here's a race today from MNR. Race #7 Exacta $134.20 Trifecta $375.70.

There is a discrepancy. Track payouts were $268 for the exacta, $751 for the tri.

So YouBet doesn't pay track odds? What am I not getting?

Track payouts were for $2 wagers.

An A in Math.

Common sense isn't all that common.

this must have been driving you insane how long did this brew before you decided to post this???i can see where you made the mistake tho . this has always been a pet peave of mine i think everything should be posted in the $2 form if they want to post it any other way they can post the amount like they seem to do with the 10 cent super.

Ok- so I have one....
2 nights ago (the 4th of Aug) I played the #2 in race 9 @ EVD because I thought that either the 2 or the 2B could win it and the other would surely finish in the money. Double pay right? Well, the 2B wins, the 2 comes in thrid. My Youbet account is credited for the single win price of $5.80....NO response from Youbet about my inquiry!!
Am I missing something?

Yes:
1) Show money.
2) A customer-friendly ADW. (I suggest Premier Turf Club.)

Actually, I was under the impression, obviously incorrect, that if a track offered $1 exactas then all of the wagering platforms could offer $1 exactas. But if the track offered $2 exactas then the wagering platforms had to do the same.

It just didn't occur to me otherwise.

Double pay - never heard of that. You bet a coupled entry. You simply get two horses (2 and 2B). Only one winner in the race and it paid $5.80.

What if he bet them both to show?

Dick Mitchel used to have a strategy about that called the "coupled entry show bet." If you thought both pieces of a coupled entry could hit the board it would make an excellent show bet with an inflated price.

That wager is offered at the track as a $1 perfecta box. (Per race info on the racing form) So you need a min of $2 to make the wager but each part is $1 and the payout is based on $1. Track lists the results based on $2 wager. (I think that's right)

There is no betting them both to show. There is only the 2 horse. In this case you are right.

2BDelta VixenFaul R J116 5.80 3.20 4.80
7Big ErlMelancon G117 5.20 5.20
2Delta AngelHernandez B J117 5.80 3.20 4.80

Both halves hit the board and the show payout was more than the place payout! That's because you are splitting all show money with 2 betting interests and not three.

Donnie,

You've posted that you "played the #2 in race 9 @ EVD because I thought that either the 2 or the 2B could win it and the other would surely finish in the money."

How did you bet it? $2 WIN on #2? or $2 WIN/PLACE/SHOW on #2? or how?

If you only bet $2 WIN on #2, you only get paid $5.80 for the win by 2B Delta Vixen.

If you bet $2 across the board WPS on #2, you should have been returned $13.80 (W $5.80 + P $3.20 + S $4.80).

You don't get anything extra for #2 Delta Angel finishing 3rd as the listed show pool price of $4.80 accounts for both horses already (and is why the show price is higher than the place price).

098,
In your example, $2 win wagers on #2 paid $10.60 ($5.80 + 4.80), no?

No
If you bet $2 to win on the 2 you would receive $5.80. If you bet $2 to place on the 2 you would receive $3.20. If you bet $2 to show on the 2 you would receive $4.80.

Are you pulling my leg?

No, I'm really not. I apologize if it seemed so. Tell me, though. If the "2 Entry" doesn't get paid for Show ... in as much as the #2 finished 3rd ... who does get paid? I thought the lower-finishing horses come into play only for the exotics.

Thank you.

No apology necessary.
Who said the 2 entry doesn't get paid to show?
In the example the 2B won, the 7 came in second and the 2 came in third. Notice the payoffs on the 2B and 2 are the same. If you made a win wager on the 2 you get paid for that. If you made a show wager for the 2 you get paid for that. Because both halves of the entry hit the board (1st and third) the show payout is higher than it would be if only the 2b won and another horse came in third.

My mistake. I thought Donnie had bet the entry across the board ... thereby expecting both payoffs. Upon re-reading the post, it appears his was a win wager only. (Anybody got a good "reading for comprehension" book to recommend? )

No problem. I thought I was in the middle of an Abbott and Costello routine. If there was a horse named "Place" and Abbott would tell Costello to bet 2 dollars to win on Place!!:D
