Always a nice crowd for Haskell day and today did not disappoint with 43,ooo. Not too many suprises except for my experience in the teletheater. Took a look at the Delmar simulcast and the guy in front of me is betting like a fiend with his bookie. He says he's down $2700 for the day. Then he makes a $10 tri bet , 7,all, all .in a maiden race over the poly. The 7 wins at 8/5 and I think I see the 9 come in 2nd and a photo for 3rd. It comes in that way, 8/5, 65/1, 15/1 .... for $1418 for $1 and he's got it for $10 !!! TAlk about getting out for the day .

Yes, $2700 for the day and $5K for the week, as he told me afterwards. The race before that, he bet a Santa Rosa race, $500 win and $50 exacta wheel. Hit the bet, but broke even i think on that one. There are some real sick puppies out there. What I thought was good for him though, was that his bet probably didnot go into the live pool, so it would not effect his price. there are some
very large bettors in the Garden state, some come over from NYC to bet. I was at an OTB a few years back and a guy hits a big tri , pays like $12k, and he had it for $7 . Heard afterwards he is a very large bettor, who bets a couple million a year.
