I was watching CNN as well at the time, and heard the same report you did (they specifically used the term "Muslims" when describing the cars occupants).

Interestingly, the Fox news link you provided (and mind you, the left considers FOX a propaganda tool of the right) mentions nothing about the ethnicity of those inside the car.

I suppose we can consider CNN now firmly in the Bush propaganda camp....

Apparantly they had materials that could be used to make fireworks, hobby rockets, or some other type of explosive devices (pipebombs). The fact that they were close to a Navy base works against them, and the police state their behavior made them suspicious and they believe the items were not meant to be fireworks. Of course CAIR, without knowing any facts, states that this is definately not related to terrorism and constitutes racial profiling. This is the same group named as unindicted coconspiritors in a federal terrorism prosecution, and also the same group that holds itself out as the representatives of American muslims (although their membership has nosedived since 9/11 and they get most of their funding from radical Saudis). But, the news media is more than happy to portray CAIR as a Muslim civil rights group. :bang:

Speaking of CAIR, I'm surprised they have not been able to fully surpress this story out of Oakland, CA. (http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/08/03/bakery.raid/index.html)
