If i can pick 50% winners betting 2 horses to win what would be the best
way to bet them to make a good profit? Would a mild progression work?

'Horse Market Investing by Dave Schwartz" who posts here. I am not sure if the information that I have is current so you can look him up and private e-mail him or maybe he will see this and post.

If you are hitting 50% betting two horses, the horses are going to be pretty short prices. Trying to bet a "slight progression" is never a good idea, but in this case you will never know how much to bet. The odds change too much when it is too late to bet.

I would assume, using rudimentary math, that your horses should pay 3/1 or better so as to offset your losses.

What is your win rate when you exclude races where one of your picks is even money or less?

So do the picks when 25% a each? Or does your "1st" pick win a lot more than the 2nd? What are the average odds that each of your picks go off at?

Dick Schmidt has the best money management plan I have ever seen. Simple and yet effective.

Taking this from his book Pace Makes the Race:

1) Play on paper until you have at least 3 positive 20 race cycles under your belt

2) Start with $200.00 bank

3) Bet 5% of bank spilt 60/40 on 2 horses to win. 60% on lower odds and 40% on higher odds guy.

4) Bet this way til you double bank to $400.00

5) Take $100.00 profit and then bet 7.5% of bank in same fashion as above til bank doubles to $600.00

6) Take another $100.00 profit and now bet 10% of bank split 60/40.

Best of luck
Richie

The best you can hope for is a dead-heat for 1st.

More importantly, does it make a profit? 50%wins betting 2 horses not hard to do but to squeeze out a profit is. What's the ROI?
